About Woody

Woody is a DI acoustic guitar enhancer. A pickup hears the strings through the bridge; a microphone hears the whole instrument: the top and back moving, the air inside the body, the space around it. Woody puts that back. Plug in a pickup and out comes the guitar as a pair of studio microphones would hear it.

The front panel is the sound. Put Woody on a DI track and it is already right: Dreadnought 1, every control at rest. From there, six walnut-capped knobs and a MIX fader move it wherever the song needs, from a tight, focused part in a busy band to a big, open guitar that carries a song on its own.

Each of the sixteen voicings is a guitar body heard by two microphones, one at the neck and one at the body, spread left and right, with every resonance ringing for as long as it should. Then a gentle input stage gives the playing the bloom and push of a good recording chain.

Key features

  • Woody – Sixteen voicings

    Sixteen voicings

Four Studio, eight Dreadnought and four Jumbo, each a different instrument with its own pair of microphones. Change voicing while the track plays and Woody crossfades to the new body without a click.

  • Woody – WOOD

    WOOD

How much the body sings: toward TIGHT the resonances settle into a controlled, even response; toward DEEP they stand out and ring longer for a bigger, woodier guitar.

  • Woody – SPACE

    SPACE

The air around the instrument: a short, diffuse tail either side. Not a reverb; the room a microphone hears.

  • Woody – PICKUP

    PICKUP

Every pickup is different: an under-saddle piezo arrives bright and thin, a soundhole magnetic mid-heavy, an internal mic boxy. With PICKUP on, Woody listens for a few seconds and brings any of them to the shape the body was built on, so the voicings sound the same whatever the guitar is wearing. Off leaves the pickup as it is.

  • Woody – MIX

    MIX

The pickup's own signal, time-aligned, blended back in, for the attack and directness that help a part cut through.

  • Woody – LIFE, AIR and GLUE

    LIFE, AIR and GLUE

LIFE sets how hard the playing pushes forward, AIR adds a broad, silky lift on the top, and GLUE levels a performance into place over phrases.

  • Woody – Track through it

    Track through it

Four samples of latency, so the player hears a miked guitar in the headphones instead of a pickup.

  • Woody – 12 factory presets

    12 factory presets

From Tight and Deep to Open Room and Record.

  6. Mix The pickup's own signal, time-aligned, blended back in for attack and directness.
  7. Air A broad, silky lift on the top.
  8. Life How hard the playing pushes forward.

More details

Is there a free trial?

Yes — 14 days, fully featured, from the first time the plugin loads. Every voicing, every control, no interruptions and no signup. When the trial ends, audio passes through dry until a license is entered, so your sessions always open.

Do I own this plugin forever?

Yes. It's a one-off purchase, not a subscription, and there's nothing to renew. Updates to a plugin you own are free — download the current installer and run it over the top.

Every plugin is sold on its own, so you can buy just the one you want.

How many computers can I install it on?

Your license covers up to 4 computers you personally own — studio desktop, laptop, spares. Enter the same key on each; the first activation on a machine takes one quick internet check; after that it works offline, apart from a once-a-day check for a newer version. Moving on from a computer? Deactivate This Machine in the plugin's preset menu hands the seat back, and if a machine dies before you can, just ask us.

How do I get my download?

Your download link and license key are in the order confirmation email sent at purchase. Run the installer, open Woody, click the trial notice on the panel, paste the key — done.

Can’t find the email? Check spam, then write to info@desertmoonaudio.com and we’ll resend it.

Can I run it offline?

Yes — after activation. Entering your license key needs an internet connection once; from then on it works offline — the only other time it goes online is a once-a-day check for a newer version.
